Hello, I'm Lauren 👋

I'm the designer and maker behind Patterns by Lauren — a crochet design studio creating colourful, thoughtful pieces inspired by nature, nostalgia, colour and the simple joy of making something by hand.

I fell in love with crochet because of the feeling it creates. There's something quite special about taking a ball of yarn and, stitch by stitch, turning it into something beautiful and useful. It's slow, creative and wonderfully tactile, and I think we could all use a little more of that.

Crochet, but make it yours

I'm particularly drawn to blankets: big, colourful, slightly nostalgic and designed to be lived with. My crochet patterns are created for makers who want to make something they will genuinely love having in their homes. I love playing with colour, developing floral motifs and finding unexpected ways to combine traditional crochet techniques with a more contemporary aesthetic.

Alongside my patterns, I also create bespoke crochet blankets. These are collaborative commissions, designed around an individual's colours, home and ideas before being handmade by me, stitch by stitch.

A little more about me

Before Patterns by Lauren, my world revolved around science. I have a background in biochemistry, cancer research and genomic science, and spent years working in research.

Somewhere along the way, crochet became my creative counterbalance — a place where I could work with colour and texture, make things simply because I wanted to, and enjoy the process rather than constantly chasing the next result.

What started as a love of making has grown into Patterns by Lauren: a creative business built around the things I care about most — beautiful design, thoughtful making and creating things that people can keep and enjoy for years.

And I'm only just getting started.

What's next?

Patterns by Lauren is growing beyond crochet patterns and bespoke blankets.

I'm building a creative community through The Sunday Craft Club, bringing together makers, independent craft businesses and people who simply want to make more time for creativity.

There are patterns to design, blankets to crochet, ideas to develop and plenty of yarn to be bought.

I'm so glad you're here.
