Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

Welcome to Patterns by Lauren. These Terms of Service set out the terms that apply when you purchase a crochet pattern or commission a bespoke crochet blanket from Patterns by Lauren.

By placing an order through this website, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Patterns by Lauren

Patterns by Lauren is a UK-based crochet design business offering digital crochet patterns and bespoke handmade crochet blankets.

References to “I”, “me”, “my” or “Patterns by Lauren” mean the owner and operator of Patterns by Lauren Ltd.

References to “you” or “customer” mean the person purchasing products or services through this website.

2. Crochet Patterns

All crochet patterns sold through this website are digital products unless otherwise stated.

After purchasing a digital pattern, you will receive instructions for accessing or downloading the pattern.

Patterns are for personal use. You may make finished items from the patterns for yourself or as gifts.

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce or redistribute a pattern, in whole or in part.

  • Sell, share or otherwise distribute the digital pattern file.

  • Upload the pattern to websites, groups, forums or file-sharing services.

  • Claim the pattern or its design as your own.

  • Translate, reproduce or adapt the written pattern for commercial distribution without my prior written permission.

You may sell finished items made from Patterns by Lauren patterns on a small-scale handmade basis, provided that the finished item is made by you and is not mass-produced. Where reasonably possible, crediting Patterns by Lauren as the designer is appreciated.

All pattern designs, photographs, illustrations, written instructions, graphics and other original content remain the intellectual property of Patterns by Lauren Ltd unless otherwise stated.

3. Digital Downloads and Cancellation

Because crochet patterns are digital products, you should ensure that your device and software are capable of opening the file before purchasing.

Under UK consumer law, you may have a statutory right to cancel certain online purchases within 14 days. However, for digital content that is not supplied on a tangible medium, you may lose this right once you have expressly agreed to immediate access or download of the digital content and acknowledged that you will lose your cancellation right.

Where applicable, you will be asked to provide this confirmation before accessing your pattern.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

If you experience a technical problem accessing or downloading a pattern, please contact me and I will do my best to resolve the issue.

4. Bespoke Crochet Blankets

Patterns by Lauren offers handmade bespoke crochet blankets designed and made to order.

Each bespoke blanket is individually designed and handmade. Small variations in colour, tension, texture, dimensions and appearance are therefore a natural characteristic of handmade crochet and are not considered defects where they do not materially affect the agreed design or quality of the blanket.

The bespoke process may include:

  1. An initial discussion about your requirements.

  2. Agreement on the design, colour palette, size and price.

  3. Confirmation of the order and payment.

  4. Creation and approval of the bespoke design.

  5. Handmade production of the blanket.

  6. Delivery of the completed blanket.

A bespoke order will only be considered confirmed once the agreed payment or deposit has been received.

5. Bespoke Designs and Changes

I will work with you to agree the key elements of your bespoke blanket before crocheting begins.

Where appropriate, I may provide sketches, colour palettes, motif samples or other design information for approval before production begins.

Once the design has been approved and production has started, significant changes to the agreed design may incur additional costs and may affect the estimated completion date.

If you request substantial changes after work has begun, I will discuss any additional costs with you before proceeding.

Patterns by Lauren reserves the right to decline a bespoke commission at its discretion.

6. Bespoke Designs and Future Patterns

As part of the bespoke design process, Patterns by Lauren may develop an original crochet design specifically for your commission.

The physical blanket created for you belongs to you once the agreed payment has been made. However, the underlying crochet design and associated intellectual property remain the property of Patterns by Lauren Ltd.

This may include, where applicable:

  • The arrangement and composition of motifs.

  • Original motif designs.

  • Stitch combinations.

  • Construction methods.

  • Colour concepts and palettes.

  • Design sketches and development work.

  • Written pattern instructions subsequently created from the design.

Where a bespoke design is suitable for adaptation into a crochet pattern, Patterns by Lauren reserves the right to further develop, reproduce, publish and sell a crochet pattern based on that design in the future.

The published pattern may differ from the original commissioned blanket. For example, it may use different colours, dimensions, yarns, construction details or variations of the original design.

Patterns by Lauren will not publish or disclose your personal information, photographs of you, your home or other private details in connection with a future pattern without your permission.

By commissioning a bespoke blanket, you acknowledge and agree that the underlying design may subsequently be developed into a commercial Patterns by Lauren crochet pattern.

Exclusive Designs

If you require a bespoke design to remain exclusive to you and not subsequently be developed into a commercial crochet pattern, this must be discussed and agreed before the commission is confirmed.

An additional exclusivity or design fee may apply to compensate for the commercial rights being retained exclusively for the customer.

Any agreed exclusivity arrangements will be confirmed in writing as part of the commission agreement.

7. Bespoke Blanket Pricing

The price of a bespoke blanket will depend on factors including its size, design complexity, yarn and materials, and the amount of work involved.

A personalised quotation will be provided before you commit to the order.

Any additional costs arising from changes requested by you will be discussed and agreed before those costs are incurred.

8. Payment

Payment must be made using the payment methods available at checkout or otherwise agreed between us.

Where a deposit is required, the remaining balance must be paid before the completed blanket is dispatched.

Patterns by Lauren will not dispatch a bespoke blanket until the full agreed balance has been received.

9. Production and Delivery Times

Bespoke blankets are handmade to order and therefore require time to produce.

An estimated production timeframe will be provided when you place your order. This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date unless a specific delivery date has been expressly agreed in writing.

Unexpected circumstances, including material availability, supplier delays or circumstances outside my reasonable control, may affect production times. If a significant delay occurs, I will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.

Delivery times are additional to the production timeframe.

10. Returns and Cancellation of Bespoke Orders

Because bespoke blankets are made specifically to your requirements, your statutory cancellation rights may differ from those that apply to standard products.

If you wish to cancel a bespoke order, please contact me as soon as possible.

If production has not yet begun, I will consider whether the order can be cancelled and whether any payment can be refunded, subject to your statutory rights and any costs already reasonably incurred.

Once production has begun, cancellation may not be possible where the blanket has been made to your specifications and cannot reasonably be resold.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights where goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet the requirements of UK consumer law.

11. Faulty or Damaged Items

I take care to ensure that every blanket is made to a high standard.

If your blanket arrives damaged or you believe there is a fault with your order, please contact me as soon as reasonably possible with details of the issue and photographs where appropriate.

I will assess the issue and, where applicable, offer an appropriate remedy in accordance with your statutory consumer rights.

12. Colours and Photography

I make every effort to represent yarn colours accurately on this website. However, colours can appear differently depending on your screen, device and lighting conditions.

For bespoke blankets, the final appearance of colours may therefore vary slightly from digital images or photographs.

13. Intellectual Property

All original Patterns by Lauren designs, including crochet patterns, blanket designs, written instructions, photographs, illustrations, logos, branding and website content, are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Purchasing a crochet pattern or bespoke blanket does not transfer ownership of the underlying design or intellectual property to you.

The purchase of a bespoke blanket gives you ownership of the physical blanket only, unless separate written terms state otherwise.

You may not reproduce, commercialise or distribute Patterns by Lauren designs without prior written permission, subject to the rights granted in these Terms.

14. Website Content

I make reasonable efforts to ensure that information on this website is accurate and up to date.

However, I do not guarantee that the website will always be available, error-free or free from technical interruptions.

I reserve the right to update product descriptions, prices and website content where necessary.

15. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.

To the extent permitted by law, Patterns by Lauren will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of this website or products purchased through it.

16. Privacy

Any personal information provided when placing an order or signing up to communications from Patterns by Lauren will be handled in accordance with the Patterns by Lauren Privacy Policy.

17. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the business, products, services or applicable legal requirements.

The version in effect at the time you place an order will generally apply to that purchase.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

19. Contact

If you have any questions about these Terms, an order, a crochet pattern or a bespoke blanket commission, please contact Patterns by Lauren through the contact details provided on this website.
